Last year Tom Phillips did some fantastic work for the Folio Society edition of Cicero’s Orations (cover shown above). I’ve just seen an illustration from 1961 by Czech artist Miroslav Šašek (courtesy of Brain Pickings) that uses the same idea – a bust of Cicero giving a press conference. Nothing new under the sun.
